Alfreda Noncia Markowska - Heroine of the Resistance
Alfreda Noncia Markowska, a Heroine of Resistance is an educational project that uses theatrical tools to do anti-discrimination work. In this project, we deal with the life and work of the Polish Romni Alfreda Noncia Markovska. Romani children and teenagers, adult actresses and an artistic team deal with the biography of a heroine. A heroine who saved more than 50 children from being murdered by taking them from their mothers on the deportation train to Auschwitz as she as a forced laborer on the railroad tracks worked or by finding them on mass shooting sites and hiding them in her house. An important story about resistance and survival that, especially in times of a shift to the right, offers opportunities for discussion about history and the present, civil courage and action against racism.
