DIGITAL TRACE SEARCH – ROMANI VOICES AT THE BERLIN MEMORIAL

Digital Remembrance of Places in Eastern Europe.

We are delighted to be launching a new project with the support of the Landesstelle für Gleichbehandlung – gegen Diskriminierung (LADS). We aim to expand our digital remembrance work at the Berlin Memorial to the Sinti and Roma of Europe Murdered under National Socialism.

We plan to undertake trips to the respective regions, conduct archive research and engage in dialogue with local Roma organisations to discuss local cultures of remembrance and the perspectives of descendants. To this end, we will visit local archives in Eastern Europe to investigate which documents exist regarding former camps and what records there are of the persecution and murder of Sinti and Roma.

The results will be digitised and made available via the “Talking Memories” app and our website.
