Talking Memories

An app on the history of the Nazi genocide against Romani and Sinti people in Europe.

In the "Talking Memories" project, we are developing an app designed for learners and teachers to explore the history of the "Memorial to the Sinti and Roma of Europe Murdered under National Socialism" and specifically the European Nazi genocide against Romani and Sinti people. The genocide perpetrated by the Nazis against the Romani and Sinti communities remains largely absent from public memory and school education, with very limited knowledge about it. When the Nazi genocide of Romani and Sinti people is discussed, the perspective of survivors and their descendants is often missing. Therefore, the "Talking Memories" app aims to prioritize the narratives of survivors and their descendants, as well as the perspectives of resistance. Additionally, the app will establish connections between historical events and the present. The project is funded by the "Digital Memory" program of the EVZ (Foundation "Remembrance, Responsibility, and Future").
